Whenever capitalism enters a crisis of legitimacy—after all, the exploitation of people, other animals, and nature for the profit of a few is difficult to justify—history shows a recurring rise in fascist tendencies. In Germany today, these tendencies are once again clearly visible?
The AfD is leading in opinion polls, but the coalition of CDU/CSU and SPD is also actively dismantling parts of the welfare state. Those who do not conform to neoliberal performance ideals risk losing rights and access to resources. At the same time, regressive energy policies, restrictions on democratic freedoms, and large-scale rearmament are being pushed forward. Studies also show how widespread far-right attitudes have become—even among young people.
An anti-fascist design on a garment alone will not change this. But a subtle message can at least make one thing clear: not everyone agrees with this direction. Those of us who stand for a solidaric and respectful society are many—and now is the time to connect, while it is still possible.
