Europe is shifting to the right, refugees are becoming the enemy. But they are fighting against their disenfranchisement – in Germany, Europe and on the transit routes in Africa.

Billions spent on isolation, racist laws, migration deals with dictatorships: driven by the extreme right, politicians in Europe today are doing almost everything they can to keep refugees out or send them back. But whether on the transit routes in Africa, at the EU's external borders or within the EU itself, refugees are now resisting these policies everywhere. The "People on the Move" know that they only have a chance to stand up for their rights if they are united – and transnational. In networks such as We'll Come United, they are therefore fighting for freedom of movement and against isolation and violence. This book shows how people fleeing their homes are organising themselves and the support they are receiving: from the fight against abuse by EU-funded Libyan militias to resistance against payment cards or traumatic night-time deportations from German "Dublin centres". The focus is on the beginnings in the 1990s up to the new anti-racist alliances in Europe and beyond the Mediterranean.
