Right-wing and fascist forces want to erase diversity. Everyone is supposed to think the same, function the same, and feel the same. Anything that is “different” or can be portrayed as “different” is supposed to disappear. But capitalism as a whole also leaves little room for individuality. People with disabilities, ADHD, autism, or other supposed deviations from a constructed ideal are harassed by authorities, stripped of rights by politicians, and excluded from resources through reforms. Anyone who does not want to or cannot submit to the ideal of productivity would be better off not existing.

All the more important, then, that we manage to build a broad left-wing movement in which there is room for difference. A movement in which people feel welcome and empowered to make a difference, regardless of how their brains and nervous systems function. A movement in which all of us, with our individual characteristics, can work together toward a world that has room for many worlds.
