Zapatista - Soli T-shirt- Solidarity for the Zapatista rebels!
Since their uprising in 1994, the Zapatistas have been fighting against racism, the exploitation of Mexico's indigenous people, the oppression of women and all disadvantaged genders, and the destruction of nature through capitalism and neoliberalism. They ally themselves internationally with political struggles and repeatedly invite people from all over the world to their self-organized autonomous areas in Chiapas, Mexico.
Why a soli shirt? For the first time ever, a delegation from the Zapatista movement, which mainly consisted of women, planned a trip to Europe in the summer of 2021 to network, exchange and organize with anti-capitalist, feminist and environmental movements. For joint resistance against exploitation and oppression and for "a world in which many worlds have space." A lot of money was needed for travel expenses and logisticsit was important to us to support this project financially together with you. We have already been able to pass on the profit from this campaign, more than 3000 €, in full to the organizers of the Ya Basta network, the Europa Zapatista network and other groups who are coordinating the trip. Wow, unbelievable!
Even now in 2022 and after a successful journey, we are keeping the solidarity shirt and are now donating 2 € per shirt to the zapatista movement.
About the motif: The motif of the soli shirt shows the journey of the Zapatistas - based on the original plan to cross the ocean on a sailing ship. This alludes to the so-called conquest of today's Mexico by Spain 500 years ago, the text proclaims in the waves: "They did not conquer us, we remain resistant and rebellious."
