Adopt don't shop!
Have you heard the latest catch-phrase 'Adopt, don't shop'? If so, you might be wondering what it means. It is a slogan that a growing number of animal rights proponents are using to promote adopting pets from shelters, rather than buying them from pet stores. Why? Most of the animals sold in pet stores or online originate from commercial animal-breeding facilities that focus on increasing profit with little regard for the health and welfare of the animals. Practices and conditions in all animal-breeding facilities are unethical and downright abhorrent in many cases. But there very good reasonsadopting a rescue animal: Adopting helps fight animal-breeding facilities and its structures but more important: It saves lifes! Adopting an animal from a shelter not only means that you?re giving that individuum a happy life, but you also free up a spot at the rescue or shelter to save another animals's life.
