The Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker CCGS Des Groseilliers twice rammed the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society ship Farley Mowat yesterday.
The Coast Guard had ordered the Farley Mowat to not approach the area where seals are being slaughtered. When the Farley Mowat did not comply, the Coast Guard rammed the vessel near the port aft stern area. After the Farley Mowat stopped in the ice, the Coast Guard rammed the ship a second time in the same area of the ship causing damage to the plates in that area.

“It appears that Canada is prepared to use violence to cover-up the truth of this slaughter,” said Captain Paul Watson. “Our duty is to resist their violence and continue to document the truth.”

Despite mounting pressure from around the world to end the commercial slaughter of seals, the Canadian government authorised hunters to kill 275,000 harp seals in 2008, one of the highest quotas in recent history. Three Seal Hunters have been killed in an accident during bad weather on the annual seal hunt, prompting other hunters to return to shore.
Hunters face shifting ice, high winds, freezing temperatures and unpredictable seas during the hunt this year.

About 800 seals were killed on Friday officials said.

Rodney Coronado was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison last thursday. He pleaded guilty in December to a charge of demonstrating how to make a destructive device with the intent that someone would commit arson from a speech Coronado made Aug. 1, 2003 in Hillcrest.

Die umfangreichste Recherche über Pelztierfarmen, welche jemals in Deutschland gemacht wurde, ist nun als Non-Profit-Dokumentarfilm erhältlich.

Diese aufrüttelnde Dokumentation zeigt das Leben und Sterben von Nerzen und Marderhunden auf deutschen Pelztierfarmen. Im Frühjahr geboren, verbringen die Tiere ihr kurzes Leben in Gitterkäfigen, um im Herbst oder Winter für Modeartikel getötet zu werden. „Der Pelztierfilm“ dokumentiert das Leben der Tiere von Geburt an und gibt einen hautnahen Einblick in den Alltag auf deutschen Pelztierfarmen. Auch das Schicksal der Zuchtnerze, die oft mehrere Jahre auf den Farmen ihr Dasein fristen müssen, wird dokumentiert. Wie es auf diesen Farmen heute tatsächlich aussieht, blieb der Öffentlichkeit bislang verborgen.

„Der Pelztierfilm“ wurde für Schulungs- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit hergestellt und von der gemeinnützigen Tierrechtsorganisation „die Tierfreunde e.V.“ finanziert. Der Verkaufspreis dieser DVD von nur 5 EUR deckt die Kosten zur Erstellung des Films bei weitem nicht. Der geringe Kaufpreis soll für eine weite Verbreitung der Dokumentation sorgen, um Pelzgegnerinnen und Pelzgegnern wichtige Hintergrundinformationen zur Verfügung stellen zu können. Damit soll ein effektiver Beitrag zur Abschaffung der Pelzherstellung, des Pelzhandels und somit der Pelztierhaltung geleistet werden.

Wir haben bei allen Modellen das Fußbett im Schuh gemessen. Jetzt mußt du nur die Länge deines Fußes in Erfahrung bringen (siehe Abbildung), einen Zentimeter dazurechnen und schon hast du deine ROC size!
