australasian ROC agent embarks with sea shepherd

Sarahhi everyone, australasia roc agent agent sarah here!
as some of you may know, SEA SHEPHERD’s flagship, the farley mowat, is currently docked here in melbourne, australia preparing for their all-out-assault on the japanese whalers this summer. they are due to set sail for antarctica sometime this week.

they have been preparing here since july and during that time i have had the wonderful opportunity of helping out as an “on-shore” volunteer by working in the galley (their vegan kitchen) and also some deck work occasionally like painting. but thanks to a sponsorship by roots of compassion, i’ll now be one of the crew heading down to antarctica on the campaign! i quit my job, am packing up my life and heading south! this is an exciting adventure in many ways: helping to cook for a crew of 30+ on the high seas, fighting for the lives of 1000+ whales, travelling for 40+ days at sea and escaping the stinking city!!
the pirate whaling fleet are currently on their way from japan on a mission to defy international law by slaughtering over 1,000 whales in the southern ocean during december ‘06 and january ‘07. sea shepherd is in final preparations to meet them - with two ships, two crews, and the steadfast determination to stop these whale killers. this is one of our most important campaigns ever and our objective is to place ourselves in harm’s way to protect these sentient beings. we want the whale wars to be ended and whaling abolished.during my time away i’ll be keeping a blog so you can all read about what’s going on down there! stay tuned on the roots of compassion website and also keep an eye on www.seashepherd.org for their campaign updates as well!
